What if I don't have enough bandwidth?
VoicePulse offers Bandwidth Saver if you don't have high-speed Internet
access.
Using Bandwidth Saver, you can configure your VoicePulse line to have slightly
lower audio quality to save a significant amount of bandwidth. Even with the
lowest bandwidth setting, your audio quality will still be better than a cell
phone!
Bandwidth Saver
The audio quality and bandwidth required while talking on the phone are
determined by the compression method, or codec, being used. Traditional phone
calls are not compressed, use the most bandwidth and offer the best audio
quality. By default, all VoicePulse lines use this same method to give you the
best audio quality possible. In some situations, you may not have enough
bandwidth to use the service at the highest quality:
-
Your Internet connection doesn't have enough bandwidth
-
You are trying to download files while talking on the phone
In these cases, you can choose from two other modes:
-
Medium:
This mode uses only 32Kbps of bandwidth. The codec being used is G.726-32.
-
Low:
This mode uses only 16Kbps of bandwidth. The codec being used is G.726-16.
The default setting uses 64Kbps of bandwidth. Remember, when we say a
conversation requires XX Kbps, it means that much bandwidth is required
in each
direction. Your Internet connection must have enough download
and
upload bandwidth.
Bandwidth Saver is Free with VoicePulse
Bandwidth Saver is a great example of how flexible VoicePulse's systems are in
allowing you to even use the service in places where the Internet connection is
not ideal!
